Joe Rogan Explains Why Floyd Mayweather Is the Greatest of All Time

Joe Rogan has recently made a spot on assessment of Floyd Mayweather’s boxing career. Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

He retired from the sport with a sensational record of 50-0-0. While Mayweather was never known as a knockout artist, ‘Money’ mastered the art of defense to perfection.

There are only a few instances in his long career where Mayweather was cracked with a clean shot by his opponents, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan has hailed Mayweather for the trait.

Speaking to Bryan Callen in episode #2257 of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the UFC color commentator said;

If you want to say who’s the best boxer of all time, I always say Floyd because he got hit less than anybody, and that’s the whole thing. And, by the way, he didn’t have the kind of power that any of these other guys had. Didn’t have that—like that Roy Jones Jr. power.

Out of Floyd Mayweather’s 50 professional wins, 27 came by the way of knockouts. And while he was never the hardest puncher, Mayweather was lightning fast. He was superb in making his opponents miss and stinging them with well-times counter shots.

Mayweather beat the likes of Manny Pacquaio, Canelo Alvarez, Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, and many other big name legends during his illustrious career. His last professional fight was in 2017 against UFC megastar Conor McGregor.

While many boxers showcase the story of heart and grit, Floyd Mayweather played the sport smart and left an amazing legacy.

According to promoter Bob Arum, we might finally get a clash between these two lightweight titans

Ukrainian lightweight Vasyl Lomachenko was once at the very top of the world and looking indestructible, just like Gervonta Davis feels today. At a certain point during that great moment for ‘Loma’, even people like Joe Rogan were talking about him for his skills. Right now, it doesn’t feel like anybody can defeat Gervonta Davis, which is one of the main reasons promoters want this fight to happen in the first place. If anybody has the skillset to potentially defeat ‘Tank‘, that man is Vasyl Lomachenko. Because if Loma finds his best form again by November, we could be in for one of the best fights of 2024. There is no question about that and everybody who loves boxing would watch it.

Gervonta Davis AND Vasyl Lomachenko

Bob Arum confirms Gervonta vs Lomachenko?

During a recent interview with Fights ATW, legendary promoter Bob Arum revealed he has been talking to Lomachenko’s manager, Egis Klimas. It was a meeting at a restaurant in Beverley Hills. That’s exactly where Arum dropped the bomb, one of the fights every boxing fan would want to see. This is what he told Fights ATW during the interview” “We discussed Loma. Loma is coming here (this week), and we will sit down, and he will tell us what he wants. My feeling is, reading Egis, that it’s a Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis fight. It’s a Vegas fight, MGM or T-Mobile. We’d decide a date where there are openings.”

Gervonta Davis VS BOB Arum AND Shakur Stevenson

So, November 2024 in Las Vegas. That is the potential date but Arum did mention that this was the first time they talked about it. We will likely have a few months worth of negotiations before we get a final date and a venue. As far as where this fight might take place, the two options are the MGM Grand or the T-Mobile Arena. If this is announced over the next few weeks, we can already start speculating and wait for the show these two will put on during the press conferences leading up to the event. We are ready for another great fight to close out the year.

Francis Ngannou’s great effort against Tyson Fury in his professional boxing debut remains legendary in recent combat sports history.

Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou

The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion shut up all doubters this past October 2023. Manifesting his dream of boxing an all-time great, Ngannou went toe-to-toe with the then-undefeated 33-0-1 Fury. Ngannou lost the bout by split decision (watch highlights) on the judges’ scorecards but performed so well that many believed he was the true winner in every sense.

Amongst that party was longtime UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, who believes Ngannou probably needed a finish for a clean win, considering Fury had his follow-up match already scheduled.

“I thought he won that fight,” Rogan said on his Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “But, you know, they were setting up that [Oleksandr] Usyk fight. They were not gonna let — yeah, it just seemed like the fix was in a little bit.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury

“It was close enough that they could pull it off,” he continued. “You could go, ‘Okay, maybe. Maybe you could see him winning that,’ but I don’t think so. I thought Francis won it. A lot of people thought Francis won it.”

Ngannou and Fury have suffered the same fates in their matches since they fought. Ngannou, 37, took on Anthony Joshua in his sophomore boxing appearance when he suffered a second round knockout loss (watch highlights) in March 2024. Fury, on the other hand, was dealt his first loss against Usyk, who earned the split decision win in May 2024 (watch highlights).
