Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis versus Shakur Stevenson is one of the most exciting fights that can be made in boxing right now.

Davis is the current WBA lightweight champion who has been fighting rather infrequently in recent years but is still rated as one of the pound-for-pound kings.

Last time out ‘Tank’ stopped Frank Martin in August, and before that, he knocked out Ryan Garcia with a body shot back in April 2023.

He had been pursuing a unification fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko who instead decided to take the rest of the year off, so is next scheduled to fight WBA junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. at Houston’s Toyota Center.

Stevenson, who holds the WBC lightweight belt, beat Artem Harutyunyan in July, and before that Edwin De Los Santos last November, both on points, and both while taking a some criticism for boxing safely.

He was scheduled to fight Joe Cordina this month but a hand injury meant he withdrew from the card and will be out until the new year.

Speaking to ProBox TV, former coach turned pundit Teddy Atlas had high praise for Davis.

“Tank Davis, right now he’s in his prime, he can do everything. Forget about the fact that he is the hardest puncher, he is also a terrific counterpuncher, can set traps, and can set his legs when he wants to. He’s patient when he needs to be patient, deliberate, cerebral, right now he’s the full package.”

He then claimed Davis was the only man who could beat Stevenson.

“He is probably the only guy I can think of beating Shakur Stevenson right now, because Shakur Stevenson is that difficult right now ’cause of his style, his eyes, legs, his hand speed, the way he controls range. Tank Davis is the only man I can see that can possibly decipher that style.”

For the moment fans will have to wait to see whether this match-up ever materialises.

Jermall Charlo has landed a homecoming fight to end his latest ring hiatus.

The Ring has confirmed that the former two-division titlist will return to the ring on Dec. 14. Charlo (33-0, 22 knockouts) will appear on the Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis-Lamont Roach PBC on Prime Pay-Per-View event from Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Jermall Charlo and Gervonta Davis

An opponent was not yet identified as this goes to publication. However, The Ring has learned that the leading candidate is Thomas ‘Cornflake’ LaManna (38-5-1, 17 KOs). Such a fight would take place at the full super middleweight limit.

PBC creator Al Haymon was scrambling to replace an injured Nico Collins on his NFL Fantasy Football team and not in a position to comment.

Houston’s Charlo will have been out of the ring for a little more than a year by fight night. He ended a 29-month ring absence with a ten-round win over Jose Benavidez Jr. (28-3-1, 19 KOs) last Nov. 25 in Las Vegas. Charlo missed the agreed-upon weight for the bout, checking at a career-heaviest 166.4 pounds.

Gervonta, David, and Lamont Roach Jr

With that will come his second straight fight at super middleweight. Charlo previously held the IBF junior middleweight and WBC middleweight titles.

Previous rumors had Charlo potentially facing fellow former two-division titleholder Demetrius Andrade. However, The Ring has confirmed that it was false hope and that such a matchup was never budgeted for the Davis-Roach undercard.

Charlo’s last fight at home came in a June 2021 points win over Juan Macias Montiel (23-6-2, 23 KOs). The bout also took place at Toyota Center, and marked the fourth and final defense of his WBC middleweight title.

Personal issues forced an extended ring break. With it came canceled plans for a June 2022 title defense versus Maciej Sulecki at this very venue.

Charlo was eventually relieved of the WBC 160-pound bout due to an inability to defend versus interim titlist and mandatory challenger Carlos Adames (24-1, 18 KOs). A designation of ‘Champion in Recess’ was bestowed upon Charlo, though he is not due to return to middleweight.

Gervonta, David, and Lamont Roach Jr

Should this matchup transpire, it will mark the third career fight above 160 for LaManna.

The 32-year-old from the southern part of New Jersey has won eight in a row since a May 2021 knockout loss to Erislandy Lara. The bout come with a secondary version of the WBA middleweight title. Lara was since upgraded to full titlist, while LaManna has been on the comeback trail.

In his most recent start, LaManna scored a second-round knockout of the normally serviceable Juan Carlos Abreu (26-8-1, 24 KOs). Their June 8 clash took place in LaManna’s home region of Atlantic City.

Tiger Woods has left Florida as he bids to avoid Hurricane Milton, while Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry’s houses are both in weather alert areas.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy

Tiger Woods has reportedly fled from the path of deadly Hurricane Milton. The huge storm made landfall in Florida on Wednesday night and has already wrecked havoc across the state.

The golf legend’s private plane was spotted edging away from the fearsome storm and was picked up by radars flying away from Florida on Wednesday morning. The account which reported Woods’ escape from the storm then claimed his plane was making its descent towards Jackson, Mississippi.

Why Woods’ plane was heading specifically to Jackson remains unknown according to Golf Magic, however he is not the only golfing star who was in danger of facing the full force of the hurricane. Irish stars Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry’s grand residences in Florida were also on high alert as Milton made its way in their direction.

TIGER WOODS

Both players own luxury homes in Jupiter, Florida, which has been under a ‘tropical storm warning’. As tension was building ahead of the hurricane’s arrival, Shane’s wife, Wendy Lowry posted an Instagram photo of the couple’s child cycling, captioning it “Calm before the storm.”

McIlroy has made Jupiter his home since buying property there from fellow golf star Ernie Els in 2011. Lowry then became a local in 2017, just ahead of his Open triumph at Royal Portrush. McIlroy’s home, believed to be worth in the region of a staggering £17million, resides on 2.4 acres and is reported to have 10 bathrooms in addition to the nine bedrooms across the sprawling property. The South Florida residence also features a stunning infinity pool, as well as a games room, tennis court, home theater, recording studio and state-of-the-art gym.

The 13,000-square-foot home also has a six-car garage where the golfing icon will be hoping his hefty car collection is safe from Milton’s path. Just outside the property, where McIlroy lives with his wife Erica Stoll, there are dozens of foliage, including several palm trees and a private golf course.

Prior to the once in a century storm, an official from Pasco County, Florida, warned its 600,000 residents: “This is your last chance to take shelter. After that, you’ll need to find a way to the shelter or be prepared to ride out the storm.”

Milton, which built into a Category 5 storm as it barreled across the Gulf of Mexico towards Florida, collided into the sunshine state and has caused devastation. Widespread damage and flooding have meant large parts of the area are no-go zones.

Tragically, multiple deaths have already been confirmed, after a series of tornadoes unleashed by the mega storm destroyed homes and flattened communities. The storm originally made landfall as a Category 3 Hurricane but Milton dropped to a Category 2 hurricane as it tore through the centre of Florida and officials now fear the death toll will only rise.

United States President Joe Biden warned that evacuation ahead of the storm was “life and death.” While, Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida, said: “Absolutely every place on the west coast of Florida could get a major storm surge.” Hurricane Milton comes less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene hit the Gulf Coast as a category four storm, killing at least 225 people across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

Simone Biles and Co. have a busy week ahead. After their Charlotte, North Carolina show, the team will perform three back-to-back shows until October 15. However, they’ll start the three-show sprint at Sunshine City, Florida. While the Gold Over America Tour will move to Orlando on October 12, they perform their first show at the famous Amerant Bank Arena.

Simone Biles

Like many of the other arenas they’ve visited, Amerant Bank Arena is among the best venues in the States. In fact, the Amerant Bank Arena claims to be “the most notable sports and entertainment venue in Florida and among the best in the world.” However, what truly gives the Arena its character is that like many prestigious venues, Amerant is home to a sports team.

Learn about NHL’s Florida Panthers’ home, Amerant Bank Arena

Unlike many stadiums where Simone Biles and the Gold Over America Tour have performed, Amerant Bank Arena was just a concept in 1992 when H. Wayne Huizenga sought a home for the Florida Panthers NHL team. The business mogul and Panthers co-owner envisioned a state-of-the-art facility for his team, which eventually became a reality.

While the Panthers played their home games at the now-demolished Miami Arena, which they shared with the NBA’s Miami Heat, Blockbuster Video co-owner H. Wayne Huizenga wanted a dedicated arena for the team. He found the perfect location when City Manager Pat Salerno announced plans to build a $167 million civic center near Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Florida.

After selecting the site in June 1996, H. Wayne Huizenga aimed to accomplish the daunting task of constructing an arena in just 26 months. Despite the challenges, and with the help of Ellerbe Becket, $185 million, and 2.3 million man-hours, the arena opened in September 1998—just one month behind Huizenga’s ambitious target, but still in time for the 1998 NHL fall season.

On October 3, 1998, Celine Dion performed at the grand opening of Amerant Bank Arena. The purpose-built facility accommodates 19,000 spectators, with the capacity to exceed 20,000 for special events. The arena also boasts 70 suites and the Amerant Vault Club, which includes over 2,500 seats. Beyond its impressive amenities, the home of the Florida Panthers is a highly active venue, regularly hosting a variety of events.

An overview of the major events held at the venue hosting Simone Biles and Co.?

According to the American Bank Arena website, the venue hosts over 125 events annually. This not only shows that the venue can handle a lot of traffic but is flexible enough to host varied events. While built for the Florida Panthers, the venue hosts everything from college and high school commencement ceremonies to full-fledged concerts.

Simone Biles

The Simone Biles-led Gold Over America Tour is a one-of-a-kind event that combines gymnastics with music and storytelling. It’s no surprise that the arena hosts approximately 1.2 million visitors annually. This year alone, the event lineup has been extensive. In addition to the Gold Over America Tour, the venue has welcomed musicians such as Bryan Adams, Toto, Journey, Enrique Iglesias, and more earlier this year.

Besides hosting Panthers games since its inception, the arena has also enjoyed a long-standing relationship with WWE. Beginning with RAW in 1999, Amerant Bank Arena has hosted multiple WWE events over the years. The latest pro wrestling show to grace the venue was the August 2024 edition of WWE Main Event.

Simone Biles and Co. won’t be the last big act visiting the arena this year. Justin Timberlake will arrive at the Forget Tomorrow World Tour on November 8. 2024. Coincidentally, Amernat Arena will be the third common area between GOAT and the multiple-time Grammy award-winning artist.

The first common venue was the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and then their most recent venue, Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. So it’s easy to see why GOAT chose the prestigious stadium. Yet, what are your views on Simone Biles and Co.’s next venue? Have you attended an event at the Arena? Let us know in the comments.

Former five-division champion Floyd Mayweather has taken to social media to rally behind his nephew, the former BYU Cougars cornerback Eddie Heckard for his NFL debut. Heckard received a rookie mini-camp invite from the Denver Broncos following the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft. In the meantime, ‘Money’ Mayweather seems to have turned into his biggest cheerleader.

A few hours ago, the retired undefeated boxer hopped on Instagram to share a clip of Heckard, featuring some inspiring highlights from his time playing for the BYU Cougars. As the clip itself acted as evidence of Heckard’s potential in the sport, Mayweather used it to wish his nephew on his birthday.

“Happy Birthday to my nephew @therealedddd There is no reason you shouldn’t be in the @nfl Enjoy,” Mayweather wrote in the caption of his post on Instagram. Floyd is coming off his exhibition rematch against John Gotti III in Mexico City, which saw the former world champion dominate the grandson of the Gambino Crime Family head.

Although no official winner was declared, it was clear that Floyd Mayweather outboxed and outperformed his opponent. This exhibition match follows several others in which Mayweather has participated, facing off against opponents like WWE star Logan Paul and social media influencer Deji, among others. Regardless, with his latest post, Mayweather seems to be paying it forward, doing for his nephew what his uncle once did for him.

A tribute to his uncle from Floyd Mayweather

Back in March 2020, Floyd Mayweather paid a heartfelt tribute to his late uncle and former trainer, Roger Mayweather, following his passing at the age of 58 battling diabetes. A legend of the sport on his own, ‘The Black Mamba’ played a pivotal role in shaping Floyd’s legendary career, which would see Floyd retire undefeated and a pound-for-pound champion.

In his tribute to his uncle, Mayweather expressed his deep love and respect for his uncle, stating, “Roger was a great champion and one of the best trainers in boxing.” A surprise to no one, Roger was more than just a trainer—he often took up the role of a father figure and a mentor to Floyd.

“My uncle was one of the most important people in my life inside and outside of the ring,” Floyd said. Despite the grueling battle Roger had to go through with diabetes, Floyd had found comfort in knowing his uncle could now rest in peace. “It is a terrible loss for all of us,” Floyd added, as the Mayweather family and the boxing world mourned his loss.

That being said, Floyd Mayweather knows quite well the importance of the bond between an uncle and nephew, as he wished the best for Eddie Heckard on social media. Regardless, what are your thoughts on Heckard?

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles partnered up for their Halloween costumes

Simone Biles

Biles, 27, shared the eye-catching ensemble on Instagram, where the trio sported outfits reminiscent of Beyoncé’s iconic “Cowgirl Carter” album art. The gymnast went all out, rocking a red bandana crop top adorned with sparkling fringe, paired with Daisy Duke shorts and a shimmering silver belt. Of course, no cowgirl look is complete without a hat, and Biles chose a sequined ten-gallon hat to top off her fit.

It wasn’t just the outfit that stole the spotlight. Biles‘ glam was on point, with long lashes, a touch of highlighter, and sleek, flowing hair that easily reminded fans of Beyoncé‘s signature long locks. The vibe was pure red-carpet glam, bringing a high-fashion touch to the cowgirl look.

Simone Biles

Meanwhile, Chiles and Roberson complemented Biles’ style with their own takes on the Western theme. Chiles, 23, donned a blue denim bustier with matching tassels and bedazzled accessories, while Roberson, 18, mirrored the same look. Together, the trio appeared like a squad straight out of a country music video, giving Biles the unofficial title of “Queen Bey” in their group.

But there’s more to the story than just a fun Halloween getup. The timing of the trio’s outfits coincides with their Gold Over America Tour, a performance-filled event where the gymnasts bring their incredible skills to the stage. While the outfits certainly grabbed attention, fans know that Biles is no stranger to Western-inspired looks. Earlier this year, she rocked a coastal cowgirl style during a vacation with her husband, Johnathan Owens, in Hawaii. A straw hat and vibrant bikini made waves on Instagram, proving that Biles has mastered the art of blending athleticism with fashion.

Simone Biles

What really has fans talking, though, is Biles’ ongoing nods to Beyoncé. From quoting the pop superstar’s lyrics in her Instagram captions to reposting a clip of Beyoncé hyping up Team USA for the 2024 Olympics, it’s clear that Biles draws inspiration from the global icon. Beyoncé’s own Western flair, seen in her “Cowgirl Carter” promotions and Olympic-themed outfits, seems to have left a lasting impression on the gymnast.

With Halloween still weeks away, it’s hard to imagine anyone topping this iconic trio’s look, but fans are already buzzing over what Biles might pull off next. Whatever it is, one thing’s for sure: she’s not done turning heads just yet.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis will defend his World Boxing Association lightweight title against junior lightweight champion Lamont Roach Jr., on Dec. 14 at Houston’s Toyota Center.

Gervonta, David, and Lamont Roach Jr

Although there’s been no official announcement from Premier Boxing Champions, the fight is expected to be a pay-per-view event. Even without an official announcement — it’s also not listed on the Toyota Center website yet — Davis let the cat out of the bag, first by posting on Instagram last week that he’d be fighting in Houston in December, and then by following up with another Instagram post on Monday announcing the date and the opponent.

Gervonta Davis

Davis (30-0, 28 KOs), who turns 30 in November, is a boxing superstar. He’s held the title at three different weight classes and been the WBA champion at 135 pounds since 2023.

This will be Davis’ first time fighting in Houston and second in Texas, having brutally knocked out Léo Santa Cruz in 2020 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) was given permission from the WBA to move up in weight to challenge Davis for his belt with an agreement that, if he wins, he’ll be given five days to decide which belt to keep and defend, and if he loses, he’ll be required to fight the 130-pound challenger within 120 days.

Gervonta, David, and Lamont Roach Jr

This will be Davis’ eighth straight time headlining a pay-per-view card. Each one has generated at least 200,000 buys with his 2023 knockout of Ryan Garcia going over 1 million.

It will be the first big fight at Toyota Center since Ryan Garcia stopped Oscar Duarte in December 2023.

Why is there always a buzz around heavyweights? The sheer power, flying punches, exciting action, and brutal knockouts remain a constant theme. IBF has ensured fans witness two hard-hitting heavyweights, as they fight it out to punch a golden ticket to face Daniel Dubois next. However, it might rob fans of another thrilling encounter, as it could potentially derail Anthony Joshua’s plans.

Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua

Notably, the IBF has ordered a title eliminator between Martin Bakole and Agit Kabayel to determine who will challenge ‘Dynamite’ next for his IBF strap. While Bakole, 31, brushed aside Frank Sanchez in his last fight, Kabayel, 32, turned in the best performance of his career after he knocked out Jared Anderson. Their last respective wins had ensured the two moved up in the IBF hierarchy and looked to challenge for the title next.

TalkSports’ Michael Benson turned to his X handle and revealed this development to the fans. He wrote, “The IBF has ordered an eliminator between Martin Bakole and Agit Kabayel to determine a mandatory challenger to heavyweight titleholder Daniel Dubois. Really good matchup; both coming off career-best performances. Bakole is ESPN’s No. 7 heavyweight while Kabayel is No. 8.”

Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua

There is no concrete timeline yet for their fight but Bakole’s promoter Ben Shalom recently disclosed his intentions to get a date in December. The details are yet to be chalked out and it might not take time, given that getting a fight date early will only diminish ‘AJ’s chances of securing an immediate rematch with Dubois. But that’s a fight where the money will be, for the fighters and the promoters.

Anthony Joshua insists on Daniel Dubois rematch

Eddie Hearn admitted that Joshua, 34, was leaning towards the rematch to win the heavyweight title. Alternatively, he could fight Deontay Wilder or other top names in the division as the British boxer continued to wait for the result of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury. If Uysk vs. Fury is detailed, then Joshua, at 28-4, would have to wait longer for a fight.

But Dubois, 27, won’t be available till February too. So, waiting for a rematch could affect Joshua’s activity levels, especially when he has entered the twilight years of his boxing career. Hearn, 45, declared, “If it’s solely down to AJ, which it will be at the end of the day. I think it’s going to be very hard to talk him out of taking the rematch.” It remains to be seen how the IBF title eliminator and Usyk vs. Fury pan out and how these fights affect the Dubois vs. Joshua rematch.

What do you make of this coming fight between Martin Bakole and Agit Kabayel? Do you think it will affect Daniel Dubois’ rematch with Anthony Joshua? Let us know in the comments below.

Keegan Bradley is keeping all his options open as he prepares Team USA for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage – including a potential role for golf great Tiger Woods

Team USA captain Keegan Bradley has engaged in discussions with Tiger Woods over a potential role for the 15-time major champion in the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Tiger woods

Bradley has been put in charge of the American side for the 2025 edition of the biennial tournament as they bid to win back the title they lost on European soil in Italy last fall. With that at stake, Team USA will be looking to put together the strongest team possible to clinch the crown – and there may be a role for Woods.

While Bradley seemed to keep hype regarding potential Woods involvement at arms length, he didn’t rule out the 15-time major champion being involved in some capacity at Bethpage Black. Woods has featured in eight Ryder Cups spanning more than 20 years, winning the iconic trophy twice.

Tiger Woods

“I spoke to Tiger a bunch when the announcement happened,” Bradley said. “He was really really helpful, had a lot of great advice. Again, the stress of playing in the President’s Cup and then the playoffs and everything that came with that, I’ve sort of put everything on pause for a second.

“I’ll be addressing that in the coming weeks and months, but I’ve had great conversations with Tiger. He’s a mentor for all of us and he’s got a lot of great suggestions on things we can do as a team.”

Woods’ worst Ryder Cup performance came in his most recent start – at Le Golf National in Paris back in 2018. He went 0-4 for the week as the Americans suffered yet another blowout at the hands of the Europeans, but Team USA will have the advantage in 2025; the last winners on enemy soil was Europe at Medinah Country Club in 2012.

Tiger Woods' controversial reason for sacking caddie with ridiculous net worth

Along with working on his fitness ahead of the 2025 season, Woods is currently engaged in a number of other initiatives within golf. He is involved in the PGA Tour- LIV Golf merger, while the 48-year-old recently announced he is set to design another course in Aledo, Texas.

Woods is also set to debut a new golf league in January alongside fellow PGA Tour member Rory McIlroy. The high-tech golf league, TGL, will feature 24 top PGA Tour players – including Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose and the founding duo – in weekly televised matchups at an arena in Florida.

Meanwhile, both Bradley and Europe captain Luke Donald revealed they would be open to including LIV Golf players at the Ryder Cup next year. Just one LIV member – Brooks Koepka – competed at the 2023 edition in Rome, with the other 23 players coming from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

Bradley is also interested in potentially becoming the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer back in 1963. The 38-year-old has enjoyed some of the best form of his career in recent months, including a stunning FedEx Cup playoff victory at the BMW Championship in August.

Fresh off a history-making performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone Biles is back on the mat. The gymnastics GOAT is currently on a cross-country trip with the Gold Over America Tour sponsored by Athleta, along with her Olympic teammates Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, and other star gymnasts like Shilese Jones and Kayla Dicello. “One of the reasons I wanted to create this experience was to connect with and empower young girls,” Biles tells ELLE.com. “Not everyone can travel to major competitions to see us, so we’re bringing gymnastics to them and we’re making it fun.”

simone biles sitting for makeup

In Paris, Biles picked up three gold medals in the team event, all-around competition, and vault. On the final day of competition, she also earned a silver in floor. All those wins helped her become the most decorated American Olympic gymnast ever, but for Biles, the Games have always doubled as an opportunity to speak out about issues that matter most to her. Before leaving for Paris, she opened up to ELLE.com in an intimate interview about her work in the mental health space and learning to love her natural hair. “I used to worry about [my hair being considered] not professional,” she says. “But I’m not embarrassed about it anymore.”

And now, as she shares her many successes on tour, Biles says she will continue to stay focused on her goal of getting people “excited about gymnastics.” Ahead of her Barclays Center show in Brooklyn last night, the gymnast took us backstage to see how she gets ready. Spoiler: her pre-competition routine involves some very cheesy pizza.
