Heavyweight Legend Says Mike Tyson Fight Never Happened Because Tyson Was ‘Scared’ Of His Power

Despite being one of the most feared fighters in boxing history, there is one man who claims Mike Tyson was too ‘scared’ to fight him.

‘Iron’ Mike still holds the record of being the youngest world heavyweight champion ever, 39 years from his incredible second round knockout win over Trevor Berbick to capture the WBC heavyweight title.Tyson went on to hold the undisputed heavyweight championship from 1987 to 1990, before he was dethroned in a dramatic loss to James ‘Buster’ Douglas in Japan.

In a shock revelation, another legendary big man made claims that Tyson did not go through with a fight with him during their respective careers because he was ‘scared’.

Speaking to ESPN, thudding puncher and Hall of Fame heavyweight George Foreman was asked if ‘Iron’ Mike had any interest in facing him.

“No way. one of us was scared and the other was glad of that. [He was scared and I was glad], amen.

Foreman – who still holds the record as the heavyweight division’s oldest ever world champion – was then asked to explain why he believed the once formidable ‘Iron’ Mike was scared of him.

“I could really punch. And of course I was an expert at punching downward, my manager would hold the bag and he was down there, so I learned to really develop power from punching guys that were down low. He [Tyson] was smart enough to understand that.”

A showdown between ‘Big ‘ George and Tyson never materialised, though was a possibility in the early nineties has Tyson not lost his title to Douglas, which has left boxing fans wonder what really could have happened in a fight between two of boxing’s greatest ever heavyweights.

Martin Bakole vs Efe Ajagba eliminator for Daniel Dubois’ IBF heavyweight world title set for May in the USA

Martin Bakole is slated to fight Efe Ajagba in May in the USA; The IBF has ordered Bakole vs Ajagba as the final eliminator for Daniel Dubois’ world championship; Dubois is making his next defence of the IBF belt against Joseph Parker on February 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office

Martin Bakole Has No Doubt Who Wins Daniel Dubois vs Parker: “I Know His Weakness From Sparring

Martin Bakole will be a keen observer when Daniel Dubois takes on Joseph Parker next month.

Parker and Dubois are two of the form men in the banner division. Dubois is the current IBF champion having been elevated after his knockout win over Fillip Hrgovic last June. That came just months after he also stopped the huge American Jarrell Miller in December 2023.

Most recently, he knocked out Anthony Joshua in destructive fashion in September to retain his belt, and now he faces former WBO champion Parker on February 22.

Parker’s last two outings have been impressive points wins against big punchers – first, he beat Deontay Wilder in late 2023, then Zhilei Zhang in March last year.

The pair square off on a huge bill that is headlined by Artur Beterbiev‘s undisputed light height rematch with Dmitry Bivol.

One fighter who would love to face the winner of Dubois versus Parker is Bakole, the man who calls himself the most avoided heavyweight on the planet.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, he was asked who he thinks will win.

“I think Joseph Parker. Daniel Dubois he can box, he did well against Joshua, he’s the champion, much respect to him, but Joseph Parker his level is above, his boxing brain, his movement. I think he will give him a hard time.”

He then backed himself to beat whoever comes out on top.

“I have sparred both of them and I know their weakness and I know how to knock them out.”

Bakole stopped Carlos Takam and highly touted American Jarod Anderson in his last two fights. Next up is a contest with Efe Ajagba for the right to become the mandatory challenger for the IBF belt.

Whyte knocks Joshua over Dubois rematch snub

Former heavyweight title challenger Dillian Whyte has criticised Anthony Joshua for not pursuing an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois following his devastating knockout loss at Wembley Stadium last September, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

“He made a huge mistake not taking the immediate rematch with Dubois,” Whyte told Sky Sports News.

“It was a world title fight, a great payday and the perfect opportunity. He will forever have to suffer the memes of being face-planted at Wembley by Dubois.”

The 36-year-old Whyte, who lost to Joshua by seventh-round stoppage in their first encounter a decade ago, drew parallels with his own experience after suffering defeat to Alexander Povetkin.

“When I lost to Povetkin, I crashed Eddie Hearn’s live interview and demanded the rematch. Nothing else mattered until I beat him in the rematch. It’s a mindset thing. I want to fight AJ and Tyson again because they both beat me.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn recently revealed that Joshua has seven different options for his next fight, including a potential rematch with Whyte, who was scheduled to face the two-time heavyweight champion in 2023 before the bout was cancelled due to a failed drugs test.

Meanwhile, IBF champion Dubois is set to defend his title against Joseph Parker in Riyadh on February 22, with the winner potentially securing a future bout with Joshua.

Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte

Joshua’s career appears to be at a crossroads following Tyson Fury’s shock retirement announcement, which has scuppered hopes of their long-awaited British showdown.

However, Hearn believes Fury’s retirement might be temporary, telling the Daily Mail, “None of us know what Fury will do next, but if we are to see the fight in the summer, he would probably have to come out of retirement in the next three or four weeks.”

The promoter had earlier suggested Fury’s announcement could be a negotiating tactic, telling iFL TV, “If you ever want to come back and get the max, you have to retire first, haven’t you? Someone then has to bring you out of retirement.”

Joshua, who recently visited Nigeria and met with President Bola Tinubu, has remained silent on Fury’s retirement, with Hearn noting his fighter’s characteristically reserved response to the news.

Anthony Joshua accused of making ‘big mistake’ after Daniel Dubois defeat by ex-rival Dillian Whyte

Dillian Whyte believes Anthony Joshua needed to pursue an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois after his brutal defeat.

Joshua was dropped three times in the shock defeat to British rival Dubois at Wembley Stadium in September, in a damaging blow to his hopes of being in the world title mix.

AJ is coming to the back end of his career and was expected to face Dubois in an immediate sequel this year, spurred on by the opportunity of revenge.

But the fight collapsed and now the former two-time champion is waiting to see what the year brings in terms of a potential opponent.

It appeared the British heavyweight was waiting to see if he can lure Tyson Fury into a blockbuster, but the ‘Gypsy King’ recently announced his retirement.

And Whyte, who was beaten by Joshua in 2015, believes the rematch was necessary to write his wrongs before being able to move on.

Whyte told Sky Sports: “He made a huge mistake not taking the immediate rematch with Dubois.

“It was a world title fight, a great payday and the perfect opportunity. He will forever have to suffer the memes of being face-planted at Wembley by Dubois.

“When I lost to [Alexander] Povetkin, I crashed Eddie Hearn’s live interview and demanded the rematch.

“Nothing else mattered until I beat him in the rematch. It’s a mindset thing. I want to fight AJ and Tyson again because they both beat me.”

Whyte himself looked set to rematch Joshua last August but the fight was cancelled after one of his drug tests returned an adverse finding.

Anthony Joshua & Daniel Dubois

But now the ‘Body Snatcher’ wants the rematch again, which could be an alternative option for Joshua in 2025.

He added: “[Joshua] Sounds perfect for me. They don’t need to ask me twice.

“They talk about me as an option, but they haven’t said anything to me, so it’s just negotiation tactics from them.

“But I’m up for the fight and I’m ready to fight again. If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me.

“I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished.”

Joshua could feasibly agree to face Whyte, with a showdown against Fury now seemingly off the table.

But he still possesses an interest in rematching Dubois, despite ‘Dynamite’ making his next IBF title defence against Joseph Parker on February 22.

Dubois is also determined to now move forward and suggested he would look to pursue a sequel with Oleksandr Usyk, which could be for the undisputed titles.

Joshua could also have numerous other options on the table, with promoter Eddie Hearn suggesting he could face Martin Bakole or Deontay Wilder.

Old rival Dillian Whyte volunteers services for Joshua’s return

. Dillian Whyte is still holding out hope for a rematch with fellow Londoner Anthony Joshua.

Whyte and Joshua met as amateurs and again as pros in 2015, when Joshua stopped Whyte at the O2 Arena in seven rounds.

They were also due to meet in 2023, but Whyte posted an adverse finding ahead of the contest and Robert Helenius was then dispatched by Joshua.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Whyte said he hopes to rekindle the rivalry in 2025 and the outspoken Whyte also believes that after Joshua was hammered into defeat by Daniel Dubois last September, Joshua’s time at

Whyte’s last fights have been in Malta and Ireland respectively. He is 31-3 (21 KOs) and the 36-year-old has defeated Jermaine Franklin, Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh since a heavy knockout loss to Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium.

I’ve trained Anthony Joshua and Jesse Rodriguez – but the most talented fighter I’ve worked with is ‘The Filipino Flash’

The former IBF super featherweight king has moulded 16 world champions during his illustrious career on the other side of the ropes and has trained some of the sport’s biggest names.

Anthony Joshua, Marcos Maidana, Antonio Margarito and his brother Mikey Garcia have all worked under ‘Grandpa’s’ watchful eye, while his current crop of fighters is topped by WBC and lineal super flyweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

Picking your most talented fighter is no easy feat for a trainer, especially when you have helped guide the careers of as many outstanding pugilists as Garcia has.

But when pressed by talkSPORT.com, Garcia cast his verdict.

“If we are talking about talent, discipline and heart then Bam Rodriguez, Vergil Ortiz and Nonito Donaire are up there,” he told talkSPORT.com during an exclusive interview.

Whyte ready to fight Joshua

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has declared his readiness to take on Anthony Joshua a second time, following the latter’s shock knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The “Body Snatcher”, who lost their first encounter by seventh-round stoppage a decade ago, believes Joshua’s career is nearing its end.

“If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me,” Whyte told Sky Sports.

“I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished.”

Whyte’s comments come days after WBC champion Tyson Fury announced his retirement following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, potentially scuppering hopes of a long-awaited showdown with Joshua.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn believes Fury’s retirement announcement is merely a negotiating tactic.

“If you ever want to come back and get the max, you have to retire first, haven’t you? Someone then has to bring you out of retirement,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“I think he’ll want to fight again, I think he will get bored and he will know the British public want to see the AJ fight.”

Anthony Joshua

Whyte and Joshua were scheduled for a rematch in 2023, but the bout was cancelled after Whyte failed a drugs test during preparations.

The two-time heavyweight champion Joshua has remained silent on Fury’s retirement, with Hearn revealing he hasn’t heard from his fighter since last Monday’s announcement.

“What do you think goes on, do you think Josh is going to phone me up and go, ‘Oh Ed have you seen the news mate’. He’s not that kind of guy,” Hearn added.

Joshua, who recently visited Nigeria and met with President Bola Tinubu, had expressed his desire for the all-British showdown with Fury in 2025 before the Brit announced his retirement.

Joe Rogan Explains Why Floyd Mayweather Is the Greatest of All Time

Joe Rogan has recently made a spot on assessment of Floyd Mayweather’s boxing career. Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

He retired from the sport with a sensational record of 50-0-0. While Mayweather was never known as a knockout artist, ‘Money’ mastered the art of defense to perfection.

There are only a few instances in his long career where Mayweather was cracked with a clean shot by his opponents, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan has hailed Mayweather for the trait.

Speaking to Bryan Callen in episode #2257 of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the UFC color commentator said;

READ MORE:Eddie Hearn Makes Emphatic Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker Prediction..

If you want to say who’s the best boxer of all time, I always say Floyd because he got hit less than anybody, and that’s the whole thing. And, by the way, he didn’t have the kind of power that any of these other guys had. Didn’t have that—like that Roy Jones Jr. power.

Out of Floyd Mayweather’s 50 professional wins, 27 came by the way of knockouts. And while he was never the hardest puncher, Mayweather was lightning fast. He was superb in making his opponents miss and stinging them with well-times counter shots.

Mayweather beat the likes of Manny Pacquaio, Canelo Alvarez, Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, and many other big name legends during his illustrious career. His last professional fight was in 2017 against UFC megastar Conor McGregor.

While many boxers showcase the story of heart and grit, Floyd Mayweather played the sport smart and left an amazing legacy.
