Old rival Dillian Whyte volunteers services for Joshua’s return

. Dillian Whyte is still holding out hope for a rematch with fellow Londoner Anthony Joshua.

Whyte and Joshua met as amateurs and again as pros in 2015, when Joshua stopped Whyte at the O2 Arena in seven rounds.

They were also due to meet in 2023, but Whyte posted an adverse finding ahead of the contest and Robert Helenius was then dispatched by Joshua.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Whyte said he hopes to rekindle the rivalry in 2025 and the outspoken Whyte also believes that after Joshua was hammered into defeat by Daniel Dubois last September, Joshua’s time at
“Sounds perfect for me,” Whyte told Sky of running it back with Joshua. “They don’t need to ask me twice. They talk about me as an option, but they haven’t said anything to me, so it’s just negotiation tactics from them. But I’m up for the fight and I’m ready to fight again.

“If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me. I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished.”

Joshua, 28-4 (25 KOs), turned 35 in October.

Whyte’s last fights have been in Malta and Ireland respectively. He is 31-3 (21 KOs) and the 36-year-old has defeated Jermaine Franklin, Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh since a heavy knockout loss to Tyson Fury at Wembley Stadium.

I’ve trained Anthony Joshua and Jesse Rodriguez – but the most talented fighter I’ve worked with is ‘The Filipino Flash’

The former IBF super featherweight king has moulded 16 world champions during his illustrious career on the other side of the ropes and has trained some of the sport’s biggest names.

Anthony Joshua, Marcos Maidana, Antonio Margarito and his brother Mikey Garcia have all worked under ‘Grandpa’s’ watchful eye, while his current crop of fighters is topped by WBC and lineal super flyweight champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez.

Picking your most talented fighter is no easy feat for a trainer, especially when you have helped guide the careers of as many outstanding pugilists as Garcia has.

But when pressed by talkSPORT.com, Garcia cast his verdict.

“If we are talking about talent, discipline and heart then Bam Rodriguez, Vergil Ortiz and Nonito Donaire are up there,” he told talkSPORT.com during an exclusive interview.

Whyte ready to fight Joshua

British heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has declared his readiness to take on Anthony Joshua a second time, following the latter’s shock knockout loss to Daniel Dubois last September, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The “Body Snatcher”, who lost their first encounter by seventh-round stoppage a decade ago, believes Joshua’s career is nearing its end.

“If he wants to fight, then all they’ve got to do is call me,” Whyte told Sky Sports.

“I’m always up for fighting AJ. No problem for me. However, personally, I think he’s finished.”

Whyte’s comments come days after WBC champion Tyson Fury announced his retirement following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, potentially scuppering hopes of a long-awaited showdown with Joshua.

However, promoter Eddie Hearn believes Fury’s retirement announcement is merely a negotiating tactic.

“If you ever want to come back and get the max, you have to retire first, haven’t you? Someone then has to bring you out of retirement,” Hearn told iFL TV.

“I think he’ll want to fight again, I think he will get bored and he will know the British public want to see the AJ fight.”

Anthony Joshua

Whyte and Joshua were scheduled for a rematch in 2023, but the bout was cancelled after Whyte failed a drugs test during preparations.

The two-time heavyweight champion Joshua has remained silent on Fury’s retirement, with Hearn revealing he hasn’t heard from his fighter since last Monday’s announcement.

“What do you think goes on, do you think Josh is going to phone me up and go, ‘Oh Ed have you seen the news mate’. He’s not that kind of guy,” Hearn added.

Joshua, who recently visited Nigeria and met with President Bola Tinubu, had expressed his desire for the all-British showdown with Fury in 2025 before the Brit announced his retirement.

WTA Australian Open Best Bets Including Gauff vs Bencic

Paula Badosa has won four of his last five matches. She won both of her opening matches in straight sets. Her toughest challenge was yesterday against Kostyuk. Paul defeated Kostyuk in three tight sets. Badosa was better under pressure in the deciding set and saved both breakpoints. The former world number 2 has equaled her best result at the Australian Open. She has never made it past the quarterfinals at the Grand Slam level. Last year in Melbourne, Badosa lost against Anisimova in the tournament’s third round.

Olga Danilovic has won four of his last five matches. She has been stunning this week in Melbourne. Olga has yet to lose a set in the tournament. In the tournament’s second round, Danilovic upset Samsonova in straight sets. Yesterday, in the third round, Olga also upset Pegula in straight sets. She was great under pressure, saving all six breakpoints. When she was 17, Olga was one of the biggest upcoming talents in the tennis world. With her recent result at the Australian Open, she made her top-50 debut in the rankings. Last year in Melbourne, Olga lost in the second qualifying round.

Coco Gauff

According to the bookies, Badosa is the favorite in this matchup, but we disagree. Paula never had any success at the Grand Slam level. On the other hand, Olga is playing her best tennis and has already upset two great players in the tournament. We expect Olga to keep this match tight.

That being said, Danilovic covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Olga Danilovic +3.5 games handicap @1.80 @bet365

Gauff – Bencic: 19.01.2025 03:00 CEST
H2H: 1-1

Coco Gauff has won 10 straight matches. She started this season by playing in the United Cup, winning all five matches. So far, Coco has had a favorable draw in Melbourne. She has yet to lose a set at the Australian Open this year. Gauff has not lost a match this season, winning all eight matches. In the third round of the Australian Open, Coco defeated Fernandez in straight sets. Coco lost his serve only once in the match. Last year at the Australian Open, Coco lost against Sabalenka in the semifinals in straight sets.

Belinda Bencic has won four of her last five matches. So far this season, Belinda has played two preparation tournaments. Here in Melbourne, Bencic has yet to lose a set. Belinda has won her opening matches in straight sets. Yesterday, Belinda faced Naomi Osaka in the third round of the tournament. After losing the first set 6-7 against Bencic, Osaka retired due to an abdominal injury. The former world number 4 is slowly but surely coming back. Her last appearance in Melbourne was in 2023, reaching the 1/8-Finals.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Coco is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Belinda played well this week but is still far from her best form. We expect Gauff to continue her winning streak and win easily tomorrow.

That being said, Gauff covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Coco Gauff -5.5 games handicap @2.10 @bet365

Sabalenka and Gauff Remain Unbeaten at the Australian Open: Key Matches to Watch

There are only two players left in the Australian Open who have not lost a match this year: Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff. Both players have exceptional talent, but they agree that it’s their mental strength that makes them champions.

During her second-round match, Sabalenka had a moment of realisation, thinking to herself, “Oh, my God, I’m really tough.” After the match, she told reporters, “I’ve had a lot of struggles over the years. I think all those challenges have made me really tough.”

Coco Gauff, on the other hand, has learned to focus on the process rather than the result. She reflected on her two Grand Slam finals – the 2022 French Open and the 2023 US Open – explaining, “In the first final, I felt close to winning, and that made me nervous. In the second final, it felt further away, so I played more freely.

Both Sabalenka, who is ranked No.1, and Gauff, ranked No.3, are still unbeaten in 2023, with 8 wins each and no sets lost in Melbourne. Sabalenka has dropped 23 games, while Gauff has lost 20, and they could be on track to meet in the semi-finals.

Before that, there are some exciting fourth-round matches to look forward to:

No.1 Aryna Sabalenka vs. No.14 Mirra Andreeva
Sabalenka leads 3-1 in their head-to-head, having won their most recent match in Brisbane. Andreeva, who is only 16, faced Sabalenka last year in Madrid but was nervous and struggled, winning just four games. However, after a strong run in 2023, Andreeva feels more prepared and is aiming for a better result this time. Sabalenka, who has won 17 consecutive Grand Slam matches on hard courts, is chasing her third straight Australian Open title.

Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka

No.3 Coco Gauff vs. Belinda Bencic
This is a 1-1 head-to-head, with Bencic winning in 2019 and Gauff winning in 2023. Bencic has battled injuries but has made it to the fourth round after a tough match against Naomi Osaka, who retired due to an injury. Gauff, after a strong 6-4, 6-2 win over Leylah Fernandez, is one of the best players in the world right now, and this will be a challenging match for both.

Olga Danilovic vs. No.11 Paula Badosa
Danilovic, ranked No.55, caused an upset by beating No.7 seed Jessica Pegula. This is her first time reaching the fourth round of a Grand Slam, and she is aiming to make history as the first Serbian woman to reach a quarter-final since Ana Ivanovic in 2015. Badosa, who struggled earlier this season, is now feeling more confident after a win against No.17 Marta Kostyuk.

No.18 Donna Vekic vs. No.27 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Pavlyuchenkova has had a strong start to the tournament, winning 6-1, 6-2 in the third round. She is aiming to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in a long while. Vekic, who beat No.12 Diana Shnaider in a thrilling match, is hoping for her best-ever result at the Australian Open.

There’s plenty to look forward to as the tournament progresses, with many exciting matches ahead!

Bulls Looking To Trade Patrick Willisam

Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas has decided to explore trade opportunities involving Patrick Williams, a source tells Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.

The 23-year-old power forward has experienced a decline in production during his fifth NBA season, averaging 9.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists through 32 games while shooting career lows from the field (37.7%) and three-point range (36.2%).

Williams has been viewed as a project since Chicago selected him with the fourth pick in the 2020 draft. The source tells Cowley that Williams “hasn’t been easy to work with,” explaining that his attitude has been fine, but he hasn’t been comfortable enough with his role to buy into what the coaches are telling him.

Cowley explains that assistant coaches are typically assigned to certain players, and there have been “frustrations” on both sides with some of Williams’ matchups. Director of player development Peter Patton has taken over those duties this season, Cowley adds, and it seemed as though Williams was responding when he averaged 11.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in November.

However, through nine games in January, Williams’ numbers are down to 6.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per night. Head coach Billy Donovan has been reducing his playing time, and he was on the court for just 17 minutes in Friday’s home loss to Charlotte, finishing with five points, no rebounds and a -17 plus/minus rating.

“I don’t want to use the word concerned, but I think Patrick’s heart is in a really good place as it relates to our team, and I think he really wants to do well,” Donovan told reporters after the game. “I think the one thing he will continue to get better at, and I think I mentioned to you guys that in closeouts, and I think the next iteration, the next part of it, at least offensively, is going to end up being, ‘What are the ones I need to go in and finish, what are the ones I need to spray out? And when I do spray it out, taking care of the ball?’ The other part of it too, for our team, we need more rebounding from him. I think he’s made the effort to try and go there, but we probably need to get a little more out of him. But I’m not concerned about him. I know this stretch for him has not been good, but he has had moments where he has been pretty good. I think he does work, I think he’s a good player. He’s up in a tough stretch right now. He’s still going through a maturation process offensively.”

The decision to trade Williams comes roughly six months after the Bulls gave him a five-year, $90MM extension. As Cowley notes, Williams was a restricted free agent last summer, so Karnisovas could have let him seek an offer from a rival team and then decide whether it was in his best interest to match it. Instead, he rewarded Williams with a long-term deal that will pay him $18MM each season, including a player option for 2028/29. Given Williams’ recent production, there may not be many teams willing to take on that contract without an incentive attached.

Williams becomes the latest rumored trade target ahead of what could be an active deadline in Chicago. The Bulls are reportedly also looking to move Zach LaVineNikola Vucevic and possibly Lonzo Ball.

Joe Rogan Explains Why Floyd Mayweather Is the Greatest of All Time

Joe Rogan has recently made a spot on assessment of Floyd Mayweather’s boxing career. Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time.

He retired from the sport with a sensational record of 50-0-0. While Mayweather was never known as a knockout artist, ‘Money’ mastered the art of defense to perfection.

There are only a few instances in his long career where Mayweather was cracked with a clean shot by his opponents, and UFC commentator Joe Rogan has hailed Mayweather for the trait.

Speaking to Bryan Callen in episode #2257 of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the UFC color commentator said;

READ MORE:Eddie Hearn Makes Emphatic Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker Prediction..

If you want to say who’s the best boxer of all time, I always say Floyd because he got hit less than anybody, and that’s the whole thing. And, by the way, he didn’t have the kind of power that any of these other guys had. Didn’t have that—like that Roy Jones Jr. power.

Out of Floyd Mayweather’s 50 professional wins, 27 came by the way of knockouts. And while he was never the hardest puncher, Mayweather was lightning fast. He was superb in making his opponents miss and stinging them with well-times counter shots.

Mayweather beat the likes of Manny Pacquaio, Canelo Alvarez, Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, and many other big name legends during his illustrious career. His last professional fight was in 2017 against UFC megastar Conor McGregor.

While many boxers showcase the story of heart and grit, Floyd Mayweather played the sport smart and left an amazing legacy.

Eddie Hearn Makes Emphatic Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker Prediction: “His Style Causes Problems”

Eddie Hearn has a clear view on how Daniel Dubois is going to fare against Joseph Parker.

Dubois goes into this second defence of his IBF title off the back of an impressive run. In just over a year, he has put together three increasingly impressive knockout performances.

First he stopped American Jarrell Miller in the dying seconds of their 10-round fight, before he overcame the power of Fillip Hrgovic in June, then, best of all, he quickly dispatched former two time world champion Anthony Joshua inside five rounds in September.

Parker is a former WBO champion himself. He is also in a rich vein of form having beaten Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder on points in his last two contests.

Speaking to And Still Boxing, Hearn gave his view that Parker would get the victory.

“I think he wins the fight. I’m kind of like Joseph’s unofficial promoter. He’s a mate of mine and I love him. I think he’s gonna win. I do. I think he’s got the style to beat Dubois

Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker.

“Sometimes when you get the big win you get a bit carried away. You see [Daniel] in the ring calling out Usyk and if I’m Joseph I’m just chipping away, working away. It’s a tough fight but I think he can win … I think Parker is in the form of his career and he’s got the style that will really trouble Dubois.”

This fight on February 22 is part of a huge bill out in Saudi Arabia that is topped by a much-anticipated rematch between undisputed light heavyweight ruler Artur Beterbiev and challenger Dmitry Bivol after a close first contest back in October.

Mike Tyson sends message to Jake Paul after making huge purchase with $20 million fight purse

Boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson sent Jake Paul a ‘Happy Birthday’ message just days after securing a massive purchase after their fight.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul made millions in their unprecedented boxing clash just weeks ago. While Paul walked away with a decisive win, he and Tyson left the arena with big paychecks in their pockets.

Weeks after the historic event, Tyson purchased a new property worth $13 million in Palm Beach, Florida. The 58-year-old isn’t ruling out another professional boxing return after the loss to Paul.

In the meantime, Tyson and Paul share a cordial relationship after their successful night of business together. Days after Tyson’s $13 million purchase, he sent Paul a classy message on social media.

Eddie Hearn hands Tyson Fury deadline to reverse retirement and salvage Anthony Joshua fight

Eddie Hearn insists Tyson Fury must reverse his retirement in the ‘next three to four weeks’ to salvage a summer showdown with Anthony Joshua.

Fury hung up his gloves earlier this week after suffering a second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last month.

Before dropping the bombshell announcement, Fury was being heavily linked with the long-awaited all-British showdown against Anthony Joshua.

However, those plans have now been put on hold.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren told talkSPORT on Monday that he believes his client’s career is over.

But Hearn is holding out hope that Fury will change his mind like he has so many times before.

The original plan was for Joshua and Fury to duke it out in the summer of 2025, although they will have to get a move on if that were to still happen.

Hearn told the Daily Mail: “None of us know what Fury will do next, but if we are to see the fight in the summer, he would probably have to come out of retirement in the next three or four weeks.

Anthony Joshua & Tyson Fury

“After that, the summer gets difficult for a fight of this size.

“The future? Hopefully […] I think he will be back, but it’s in his hands.

“For AJ, we have options to pursue and we are looking at them currently.'”

If Fury does stick to his guns then Hearn has named Martin Bakole, Dillian Whyte, and Deontay Wilder as well as the winners of Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang vs Agit Kabayel as potential backup options for AJ next.

Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh wants to see Joshua vs Wilder next if he can’t make the Fury fight while he’s also eyeing up a blockbuster showdown in Africa with Bakole as well.

“If you want something about the British markets, I want to see Joshua and Wilder now,” he told talkSPORT on Thursday.

“If Tyson is not available why not Joshua and Wilder?”

Speaking about Bakole, he then added: “We finished the deal with Bakole against the Nigerian fighter [Efe] Ajagba.

“We finished that as they must do it because this is mandatory for the IBF.

“Then after that we are open to see Joshua also against Bakole.

“I want to see this fight right. I want to see it but you know where I want to see it. I want to see it in Africa.”
