Tennis fans are currently itching to see Rafael Nadal back in action in what’s probably going to be the last season of his illustrious career. The 38-year-old tennis star was last seen in action at the Paris Olympics where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the R2. Nadal skipped the 2024 US Open due to fitness concerns and now as per recent reports, he has also withdrawn his name from the Laver Cup which will be held on September 20-22. This move has sparked retirement speculation but everything is not gloomy for his fans. Spain’s Davis Cup captain, David Ferrer, recently gave an update on Rafael Nadal’s availability in Malaga.

Spain has got off to a flier in the 112th edition of the Davis Cup. Three ties, three wins, and Ferrer couldn’t be more pleased with his team’s performance. However, the addition of Rafael Nadal will boost their confidence further. Speaking about the probabilities of his inclusion in the team, Ferrer said, “I have spoken to Rafa (Nadal) but I don’t know yet, why not? There is a possibility that he could be with us in November. I knew that Rafa’s objective this summer was the Olympic Games, then he had holidays.”

The 42-year-old Spanish former tennis player further went on to add, “As a friend, I don’t say it as a captain, I think it’s good that he wasn’t here in Valencia, I think it wasn’t his turn to be here because he needed those days of rest and to be with his family. From here, what he decides about being in Malaga or not, will be a subject that I will discuss with him later. The important thing is that he is well, if they arrive in good condition I’m sure he is a player we can count on.” Spain has won 6 Davis Cup titles as of now and has been runners up 4 times as of now. Looking at their current form, Spanish fans can surely expect something big from this campaign.

Just imagine how wonderful it’d be to see Rafael Nadal walking off with the 7th Davis Cup title for his nation. Although Ferrer has admitted that there is still a long way to go before taking a call on the team that will be there in Malaga, fans have become quite excited with this little teaser surrounding their favorite tennis star. Nadal has always been that team man that the captains seek for.

For example, while announcing his withdrawal from this year’s Laver Cup, he said he was very much disappointed to miss this opportunity in Berlin. However, at the same time, he also mentioned, “This is a team competition and to really support Team Europe, I need to do what’s best for them and at this moment there are other players who can help the team deliver the win.” Nadal last played at the Laver Cup in 2022 with Roger Federer. What did the tennis world say about this withdrawal?

American tennis legend shows support for Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal decision from the Laver Cup

Frequent injuries and recovery time have deprived the fans of witnessing one of the greatest in the tennis world this season. Rafael Nadal has played just 17 matches this season! Although, he has recently claimed that, “Mentally I’m good, no problems. I’m at home, enjoying other things, training as much as I can every day,” fans want him to see him in action as soon as possible.

Talking about getting back to the court, Rafael Nadal will most probably seen in action at the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh. It’ll be held from October 16 to 19 and that’s probably will be his last tournament before the Davis Cup (if he plays). Talking about his recent withdrawal from the Laver Cup, several tennis stars have come up with mixed reactions.

For example, his compatriot, Alex Corretja, admitted that he was “really surprised” with his call because he felt the Laver Cup was meant to be more relaxed. He has also said that this is probably also an alarming sign of what’s coming next surrounding the 38-year-old tennis G.O.A.T. However, Corretja remains very hopeful about Nadal’s participation in the Davis Cup. “To be part of the Davis Cup final phase would be phenomenal for him and the entire Spanish team,” he added.

On the other hand, American tennis legend, Patrick McEnroe feels Rafael Nadal has taken the right call by announcing his withdrawal from the Laver Cup. He said, “Knowing where he’s at and knowing what he’s been struggling with, I think it was the right move.” McEnroe highlighted Nadal’s struggle on the indoor hard courts and he thinks this could’ve been more challenging for his body too at the moment. Grigor Dimitrov will most likely replace him at the Laver Cup. What are your thoughts on Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal from the Laver Cup and Ferrero’s hint about Rafa’s inclusion in the Davis Cup team later this year?

Simone Biles was forced to miss out on cheering on husband Jonathan Owens for a second straight week Sunday.

The Olympic superstar was unable to watch on from the stands as the Chicago Bears took on the Houston Texans in her home state as she prepared to kick off the Gold Over America tour on Monday.

However, while the gymnast has missed the first two games of the NFL season, Owens assured fans it won’t be long until they see her on the sidelines.

Owens, who married the Olympic legend last year, revealed that Biles will be making an appearance at Solider Field as early as this month.

‘She’ll be here the 29th,’ the safety told the Chicago Bears’ YouTube channel. ‘She has a tour stop here that evening  at 7. Literally perfect. So, she can come to the game at 12 and then boom, I’ll get to go watch her at 7. Pretty dope turnaround.’

The Bears were in Houston for their Week 2 matchup Sunday night but Owens explained that it would have been near-impossible for Biles to make the mad dash from California and back.

‘Her tour starts Monday and we play Sunday evening so that would be a tough turnaround to then get back to California,’ he said.

But he did insist that the seven-time Olympic gold medalist would be watching him from afar.

Biles had revealed to her adoring fans that she will not be able to attend as many of her husband’s NFL games this season due to her post-Olympic duties.

She is set to begin the Gold Over America Tour on September 16, which forced to her to bid farewell to Owens earlier this month as he headed back to Chicago for the kickoff of the season.

The tour, a traveling gymnastics exhibition which will feature a host of gymnastic stars including Biles and her gold-medal-winning USA teammates, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Hezly Rivera, will kick off on September 16 in Oceanside, California.

It will make 30 stops across the United States, finishing in Detroit on November 3, which coincides with Week 9 of the NFL schedule – the midpoint of the regular season.

Although Biles couldn’t support her NFL beau in person last week, she was still rooting for him in spirit.

With the Bears down 17-3 with nine minutes left on the clock in the third quarter, the special teams player scored the franchise’s first touchdown of the season and the second of his career.

Responding to a clip of the play on X, formerly known as Twitter, the gymnastic icon wrote: ‘I ALMOST HD A HEART ATTACK.’

She also shared the clip on her Instagram story, adding: ‘LFG!! TOUCHDOWN FOR HUBBY.’

Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles made it clear during the NFL preseason that she wouldn’t be able to attend all of husband Jonathan Owens’ home games this season because of her Gold Over America Tour.

But after missing the Chicago Bears home opener last week against the Tennessee Titans, will Biles be able to make it to the team’s next home game against the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field on Sept. 29?

Well, as it turns out, Owens, a safety for the Bears, actually spilled the beans on when Bears fans can expect to see Biles again during a recent interview on the team’s YouTube channel.

“She’ll be here the 29th,” Owens said. “She has a tour stop here that evening at 7; literally perfect. So, she can come to the game at 12 and then boom, I’ll get to go watch her at 7. Pretty dope turnaround.”

The Bears won their home opener against the Titans in Week 1 but fell 19-13 to the Houston Texans on the road on “Sunday Night Football.”

Biles’ Gold Over America Tour actually kicks off the following day with its first stop at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California. From there, the GOAT tour has stops in Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; San Jose, California; Salt Lake City, Utah; Denver, Colorado; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin before hitting up Chicago on Sept. 29.

After the Chicago date, the GOAT tour has 21 more stops over the next four-plus weeks before the final show in Detroit, Michigan, on Nov. 3.

After that, Biles will be free to attend the Bears’ five remaining home games against the New England Patriots (Nov. 10), Green Bay Packers (Nov. 17), Minnesota Vikings (Nov. 24), Detroit Lions (Dec. 22) and Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 26).

Anthony Joshua gives his side of Daniel Dubois sparring story in which eye-witness claimed he was left on ‘jelly legs’

Anthony Joshua has provided his first-hand account of the famous sparring session with Daniel Dubois.

In 2017, when Dubois turned over as a professional, rumours began to swirl around boxing circles that Dubois had either dropped or knocked out Joshua in sparring a year prior.

Joshua and Dubois have sparred several times, now they duke it out for real on September 21

His promoter Frank Warren proudly exclaimed that his new signing had iced Joshua when they shared the ring together at the GB Performance Institute in Sheffield, while Dubois was a fresh-faced 18-year-old.

Joshua has remained silent on the topic for several years.

But during an interview with Sky Sports ahead of his upcoming clash with Dubois on September 21, the Watford powerhouse gave his side of the story.

“He just cracked me with a good shot. I stood on my feet,” he said.

“I don’t know where this whole narrative of someone turned my lights off came from.

“There were a lot of people in the gym that day as well.

“And people have come out and said, ‘Nah, nothing [happened]’.

“But anyway, people say what they say. With me, there’s always been like an inch that makes a mile. But it’s all good. It’s all good.”

While Joshua insists ‘nothing happened’, Anthony Fowler – who was on the Team GB squad at the time and claims to have witnessed the spar from ringside – recently told talkSPORT.com that Dubois turned AJ’s legs to jelly.

He said: “They were just sparring normally. Dubois was really young so he wasn’t really trying to win the rounds.

Fowler claims Dubois could have knocked out Joshua but didn’t out of respect

“I wouldn’t say he was in survival mode but he wouldn’t take many risks.

“He was very cagey sparring Joshua. Obviously, Joshua was the main man on the team so he was always quite wary, but he always punched really hard.

“I remember he hit Frazer Clarke so hard that he snapped his ankle.

He fell to the floor and snapped his ankle. After that, he was walking around with a cast so he’s always had that real power Dubois.

“Joshua must have been a little clumsy sparring him and he got caught with a short left hook and Joshua’s legs completely went.

“Dubois could have hit him again and put him to sleep but Dubois had a bit too much respect for him to finish him off.

“Obviously, everyone was stood there like ‘Wow’ and Joshua went and jogged around the ring because his legs were like jelly and he was trying to get his legs back.

“And everyone was going ‘Wait, wait, wait’. Joshua wanted to carry on but Rob McCracken was like ‘Have a little break, get your legs back to normal, and then spar’ and then they continued sparring.

“He didn’t knock him out, he didn’t hit the floor but he was really, really hurt.

“Dubois probably could have hit him again and knocked him out but he chose not to out of respect.

Fresh off winning four medals in the 2024 Paris Games, Simone Biles was spotted back on the mat preparing for her “Gold Over America” tour this year.

The 11-time Olympic medalist recently shared a video of herself practicing a gymnastics skill during rehearsals that was unlike what fans have seen before. Biles has routinely performed and medaled in events such as the vault, balance beam and uneven bars throughout her decorated Games career, but she wowed fans this time by showing her talents in a wholly different gymnastics skill.

In a rehearsal video posted to her Instagram Stories, Biles performed what seemed to be a modified version of the men’s pommel horse routine.

Some fans even made jokes that Stephen Nedoroscik, the inspiration behind the iconic “Pommel Horse Guy” meme and a member of Team USA’s bronze medal-winning squad in Paris, will soon have some fiery competition.

Biles’s national gymnastics tour will span from September to November. Biles revealed she may not attend many of her husband Jonathan Owens’s Chicago Bears games as a result of her busy schedule.

Deontay Wilder Reveals Injury After Loss To Zhilei Zhang: “You Can’t Give Up

Deontay Wilder is facing calls to retire after two back-to-back losses.

The big-hitter from Alabama was out of the ring for 14 months after a first round knockout of Robert Helenius in late 2022. He returned in December of last year to face fellow former world champion Joseph Parker and looked tentative, losing a near shutout on the cards.

With the promise of more aggression, Wilder came back against Zhilei Zhang in June, admitting pre-fight that a loss could spell retirement. China’s Zhang knocked him out in five rounds.

Since then, the likes of Lennox Lewis and Teddy Atlas have advised him to retire. He has been silent on the matter until a recent public appearance in which he also showed off an injury.

In a video shared by Tom Dillemuth from The Lions Den Boxing Community Reunion, Atlanta, the 38-year-old sported a sling on his right arm as he appeared to confirm he would fight on during a thank you speech for a lifetime achievement award.

Just like others have paved the way for me. It’s gratitude to give back. I tell everyone we all have greatness in us and greatness is determined by service. Everyday I wake up I try to provide my service because I know how great I am.

So many may hold you back, so many stop signs may come, many things may come and hinder your craft, but you can’t give up, though. No matter how many falls you may take, you gotta get your ass back up and keep going. And that’s what we’re on the journey doing, the best is yet to come, you understand me? I appreciate the love.”

The extent of the injury – which appears to be Wilder’s arm rather than his hand – is unclear. With plenty of movement in the heavyweight division coming up, fans may hear from him soon

Former World Champion Says A ‘Failed One-Trick Pony’: “I Told You ALL

The former WBC Champion went 40 fights undefeated in his campaign, ending 39 of them inside the distance, before he faced Tyson Fury. The Brit was coming back from a long and damaging lay-off but scored a draw on the cards, surviving two knockdowns.

wilder knocked Dominic Breazeale out in one round and Luis Ortiz in seven before facing Fury again when he would taste defeat in the manner he had been dishing out for years. ‘The Gypsy King’ dominated and stopped him in seven. Wilder was more competitive in the third fight but was ultimately knocked out again.

Since then he has beaten Robert Helenius but lost back-to-back against Joseph Parker (UD) and Zhilei Zhang (KO, 5). It’s not the losses that have made pundits call for him to retire, rather the way in which he has fought – tentatively and without the same threat.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, three-weight world champion James Toney said that he saw it coming, criticising Wilder’s resume and calling him a ‘one-trick pony’ who didn’t belong at the top level.

“Deontay Wilder and that bomb bulls**t. Everybody was believing in that. I told everyone look who he’s fighting. He fighting bums. If I was fighting them I would have all fights by knockout. The guys he fought I would’ve knocked out in two, three rounds too. They built him up right and then when it was time to come through, he failed. He wasn’t ready. It’s sad seeing what happen to him but it is what it is. Deontay was a one-trick pony.”

Toney has long argued that the fighters of today wouldn’t last two fights in his own era. He was famously tough, losing ten in his career but never being stopped. With 92 fights in total, many felt he clung on too long and should’ve hung up the gloves earlier. Some in the sport are now encouraging Wilder to think the same way.

Simone Biles has continued supporting Team USA teammate Jordan Chiles amid the ongoing controversy over the bronze medal in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics.

‘We’ve been FaceTiming, texting, just being girls,’ Biles told People while promoting her partnership with a haircare brand. ‘I did talk to her on one of the days, and I was like, ‘You know what, Jordan, you have to feel all these feels. Don’t let these emotions stop you. This will be the healthiest way to get all of this out.’

Simone Biles

It’s been a difficult August for Chiles, who was awarded the bronze in the floor exercise in Paris on August 5 on the back of an appeal by Team USA coach Cecile Landi, who challenged her athlete’s degree-of-difficulty score. That challenge led to a .1 boost, bumping Chiles to 13.766 – just ahead of Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu’s 13.700.

It’s wild, wild Africa, where the streets are the battleground and the training mat for the new-and-coming boxers. The visuals are rare but exciting, engulfing the by-passers and pulling the crowd. It was such a case where the clip of a young female boxer swinging back at her sparring partner broke the internet, even reaching Claressa Shields.

The clip, posted by African Hub on their X handle, has 38k views and is growing, making it a hot trend. After all, it’s rare that you find a female young boxer almost taking the head of her sparring partner. It even swayed the two-division undisputed champion, who enjoyed the aggression and the perfect blend of defense, patience, and some wild swings.

Claressa Shields: Dominating the Ring Across Divisions

Claressa Shields impressed with some wild swings

In the video, the fans can see the two circling, with the male sparring partner having a tall stature, and seeming older than her. While he tries to come at her, she adjusts her head, takes a step back, catches him with a left hook and uppercut, and follows up with combinations. In a couple of instances, she even catches him lacking, almost knocking him out. But a reach disadvantage comes in her way. Shields, 29, shared the clip on her X handle and captioned, “🥹🥹🥹 gone head mama!!!!!”

Interestingly, at one moment in the clip, a by-passer runs by and gives her some money for her captivating performance and wild and powerful swings. After ‘GWOAT’, the fans took to the comment section and expressed their excitement about the visuals and captivating boxing sequences.

One fan pointed out that the uppercut was deadly enough to flatline the male sparring partner, which almost happened, twice. They wrote, “That uppercut if connected would have had that man’s head clocked at 180 degrees godamm.”
