Don’t let the smile of Jordan Chiles fool you. Despite what the Olympic gymnast looks like, she has a storm raging inside. Her 2024 Olympic hardware was stripped by an unexpected move by the CAS, but she’s holding the front. While Chiles keeps the country on its toes with the Gold Over America Tour, the fight against the CAS and the IOC continues. But the UCLA student’s mom thinks Jordan is capable of enduring tougher challenges.
Winning an Olympic medal is a lifelong pursuit for most athletes. And yet, to be able to hold it and then have it taken away would be a career-ending blow to the guts for most of us. But the 23-year-old is cut from a different cloth, and Gina knows it.
The Got It From My Momma podcast caught up with the Olympic team gold-winning gymnast’s mother recently to talk about how Jordan has been handling things lately. Talking about her daughter’s tough battle against mental health, Gina confessed that the rest of the family took a long time before even realizing the gymnast was struggling. “It seemed like she was fine because everything, you know, like her performance was good,” the senior Chiles said.
Subsequently, she also thanked Simone Biles for helping Jordan rise to her feet once again. “Simone is so, so very helpful in this situation,” Gina said.
